News11 Minutes a Day28 Apr 2008
![]() Yogi Bhajan, the master of Kundalini yoga, tells us that if we don’t breathe consciously for at least 11 minutes a day, we lose 40 percent of our vitality. Whether or not we understand exactly what that means, 40 percent is a lot of energy to lose! As we approach 2012, these 11 minutes have more importance than ever. The electromagnetic field of the earth is changing rapidly. The etheric veils around the planet are thinning (remember all those recent UFO sightings?) and time is speeding up (remember sending letters by mail and using encyclopedias instead of the Internet?). According to Kundalini yoga teacher Harijiwan, the immense amount of data produced in the past few years via text messages, emails and search engines has created a pressure on the human psyche that needs to be alleviated. Many of us seek treatment through pharmaceuticals and behavioral medications such as antidepressants, while others seek alcohol, drugs, food and sexual relief. Two years ago in Britain for instance, there were 31 million prescriptions written for antidepressants, out of a population of only 50 million people. The key to improving our situation? Add meditation. Doing a seated meditation for just 11 minutes a day will not only have profound effects on the functioning of your body’s internal systems such as your glandular system and nervous system, but it will work quickly to cleanse and purify your psyche, relieving pressure on your subconscious and opening you up to a new level of awareness.
