We opened the evening with 4 pieces, new and old. Then KD joined us to sing "My God Is Real." After A short break KD took the stage and after 3 hours of uplifting chant the room achieved levitation.
I have been playing guitar (see below) at some of KD's evenings in the NY area and have witnessed the wonderful arc that he repeatedly leads the assembled souls through. It is pure Love that drives the evening. If you have never experienced Kirtan with KD, when he comes to your area, treat yourself and go. You will feel better for it.
SO, who comes up at the end of the evening to say hello but YogaMates' own Kasey. Keep up the good work Kasey!
More about me playing guitar: When I started Prana in 2000 I found overtone singing so fulfilling as a direct expression of what is in my heart that I lay down the guitar. No small thing for me seeing how I had been playing guitar since I was 13 and thought of it as part of me, a 5th limb.
I hadn't played in seven years when I went to a memorial kirtan for KD's dad. It was a very moving evening. In expression of how it had moved me, combined with my gratiitude for all KD has done for Prana, I said to him as I shook his hand, "Let me know if there is ever anything I can do for you".
The next day the phone rings and it's KD. He says, "There is something you can do for me: play guitar". I was a little taken aback because of the samsara for me connected with the guitar I reluctantly agreed and started doing Kirtans with him.
It's been a good but sometimes difficult process for me to pick the guitar up again. But, in the long run I'm thankful I did.
